Our President – Jessica Blackbourn

Jessica has been an RN for more than 20 years, primarily specializing in Emergency and Critical Care with a focus on resuscitation, education and curriculum development. Jessica has been involved in many in education programs as a consultant including pre-hospital, clinical and specialty care. Jessica is a Clinical Nurse Educator for Professional Practice at VCH. Jessica is the National Lead for the EPICC Pediatrics Course, and lead instructor for EPICC Foundations and Trauma, and many other Emergency Nursing courses. She has worked for the BCIT Emergency Nursing Specialty Program as well as at several large hospitals in BC and Alberta but primarily calls St. Paul’s Emergency home. When not at work Jess can be found at the beach with her dog and family!

Our Treasurer – Kolton Lansi

Kolton moved to Sechelt, BC after completing his Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Nipissing University. Kolton has been working at Sechelt Hospital since, enjoying the slower pace of the Sunshine Coast. Kolton completed his Advanced Certificate in Emergency Nursing through BCIT and was placed at Lion’s Gate Hospital for preceptorship. Kolton has been working in the Emergency Department at Sechelt Hospital since. He enjoys hiking and exploring BC’s amazing wilderness, and is often found kayaking or camping on his days off.

Our Jack of All Trades – Jeff Yu

Jeff completed his Bachelor of Nursing at the University of British Columbia and has also completed a Bachelor in Kinesiology at the University of British Columbia. He completed his Emergency Nursing Specialty Certificate at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. Jeff currently works as an Emergency Nurse at the Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, BC. Outside of work, you can find him out fishing and exploring local rivers.

Our Director at Large – Phoenix Frechette

Phoenix has been a nurse for 11 years, approximately 6 in Emergency. She received her nursing education in Ontario at Georgian College and Nipissing University. She moved to the Sunshine Coast after coming to BC on a travel nurse contract and falling in love with the province (and her now-fiancé). She still holds casual positions with Sechelt hospital and Children’s Hospital ER and is a flight nurse in northern provinces full time. On her time off, she loves reading, hiking, spending time with family and friends, and being with her dog Rosie (and whatever other dog friends she can find)
